favorite shoe

A good pair of shoes will last me about 2+ years.. probably..

I often find it very difficult to find the 'right' shoe, and for the right price.. I'm a one shoe kinda guy, well at most two.. (formal wear and boots don't count).. It's so hard to find a shoe that'll go with both longs and shorts and looks good on me.. But when I do find it, there always lots of affection for it.

My old pumas have served their time.
I almost bought the same shoe again.. I saw it at suntec at half the original price in those shoe dumps they dump all those old shoes. I would've bought it, but it was too small for my feet.

My new lacoste:
I paid more then I normally would for this one.. (long story).

This wasn't the shoe I was eyeing. In fact I bought a different pair at first, but the sales person gave me the wrong size and I didn't check. I did try them on but my brain thinking it was the size which I asked for (which was the one that would fit me) convinced my feet that it fit well in that moment of time. So I bought it only to go back 2 days later and ask if I could get an exchange. I couldn't cause they were out. my only option was to choose a different pair. (the one you see in the pic)

Feeling a little sour about it (i would have to top up $40 from the price difference), I went ahead and made my choice anyway.. A minute passed and I forgot about the extra money I had to spend.. and *ding ding* I realized that this shoe pwns the previous one. I was satisfied.. I wore it the next day. It just felt so right. I walked on with my head held up high.

Project: Makeover

This is what my wardrobe looks like now.
Well It's about less than half done.. It is really a lot more DIY work then I expected..

Lessons learnt:

1. Thou shall not use spray paint indoors, you can't see it but paint dust will settle all over your furniture and floors.

2. Standing down wind of the direction you're spraying isn't a good idea.

3. wallpaper-ing is harder then it looks

On a sidenote I just bought a casio synthesizer at a damn good price. I never really considered if I would have the time at all to play around with it, but gee it just makes my room 'feel' a whole lot cooler to be in.

The Kid's a people magnet

Now I wanted to say chick magnet. but it seems holding his hand walking around vivo invites genuine warm smiles from all sorts of people.. (not like the kind guys give to a pretty girl halfway across a bar to get them to notice them) From very straight men to the averagely pretty girl. I'm of course talking about my nephew.

I'm not really a kid person. Though they can be really adorable sometimes. I saw this kid in church today, he was playing with some plastic fishies n stuff and I couldn't look at him without smiling to myself and thinking. 'aww how cute'

Talking to a kid sometimes can really put you in your place. My niece told my mom 'harr.. later she will nag-nag-nag at me again' when she found out her mom (my Sis) was joining them on their little outing..

Then all of a sudden my mom starts asking me. was I naggy when you were young?.. now everyone knows all parents gotta be naggy at some point.. but of course as I said "erm.. I don't really remember" dad chimed in and added "yahhh kids so young.. they don't remember all these things one lah" Hah.

My boss was being an ass so I packed up and went home

Well not exactly.

Lately I've been spending a lot more time at home. Though weekends are more or less always burnt, I've got a long one coming right up soon. Not as excited as I think I should be.. I think I've grown too accustomed to this work-less-play-more lifestyle that it don't seem very exciting to me anymore..

This is starting to feel like the time I quit my job (almost exactly a year ago!) and decided to slack like no tomorrow till day's end. (enlistment day). It's only on days like tomorrow when I gotta be in camp for about 25 hrs which reminds me that I'm a tool (yes believe it or not thats what my boss is telling others nowadays) that we're tools.. use us.

Days like tomorrow will seem nonexistent to me. It's probably because I'll spend the whole day sleeping, stoning and walking around. Oh joy.

A fair warning

So you're standing at a pedestrian crossing, waiting. You look to your left, you look to your right. It's all clear. You take a glance to your left again to make sure then you..
a) wait for the green man to come on
b) make your way across the road safely (it's a small 1 lane road)
c) stare blankly and forget what you're doing

Now you probably chose b).. So you make your way across and continue walking towards your destination. Some 50 meters away, you are stopped by the traffic police. 'hi sir, may I see your IC'
a) you flip him off and make a run for it shouting out ' I hate cops! '
b) you comply and obediently hand over your IC wondering what could this be about
c) you violently object and eventually get yourself arrested

Since Sg folks are generally known to be law abiding, I assumed you chose b) so...
Now that he's got your IC and is taking down your particular. He explains. did you know you crossed when it was a red light. For 1st time offenders there will be a $20 fine, subsequently the fine will increase, it will be mailed to you. You react by..
a) snatching his clip board and making a run for it, destroying all the recorded ic numbers.
b) taking back your IC and walking away in shame and defeat. and eventually go on to pay the fine online..
c) snatching his clip board and trying to make a run for it but tripped and fell over in shame and defeat 5 feet into your escape.

Now I had 3 chances to be a).. to be awesome or lame in the 1st case (who bothers waiting for the green light when there're no cars!)
but Instead I was b).. A big fat B..
